Fl. 100 mm wide; perianth segments broadly ovate, brilliant yellow 13B, with slight white mucro, spreading, plane, smooth, overlapping half; the inner segments narrower and a little inflexed, with margins wavy; corona cylindrical, slightly darker in tone (13A) than the perianth segments, with rim flanged and regularly crenate. Dwarf. Mid-season.
Most likely named for the county town Cromarty and Cromarty Firth, located near Brodie Castle. Cromarty is derived from the Galeic ‘crom’ (crooked) and from ‘bati’ (bay), or from ‘ard’ (height), meaning either the ‘crooked bay’ or the ‘bend between the heights’.
