According to Bill Welch in the March 2010 issue (46 -3) of the American Daffodil Society Journal; ”Max grew them from a quantity of seed I sent him one year from Autumn Colors group x various pollens, the tetraploid paper whites being the only tetraploid pollens used at that time.”

Origin of Name

Max Hamilton’s “Maori Number Series”. The name ‘Wha’ is the Maori word for ‘four’. Max Hamilton received seeds from Bill Welch and named them by order of blooming in Maori language.
