Fl. forming a double triangle, 105 mm wide; perianth segments ovate, deep yellow, plane; the inner segments a little narrower; corona cup-shaped, orange-red, with mouth frilled. Resembles an improved ‘Chungking’.

Origin of Name

Named for New Zealand’s electricity three wire system. If you say 3 Y-R quickly, it sounds like three wire, commonly known in New Zealand as Triple Phase.
