Fls 5-8 per stem, 50 mm wide; perianth segments very broad in outline, squarish and sometimes truncate at apex, brilliant yellow, with prominent white mucro, spreading or slightly reflexed, plane, smooth and of heavy substance, overlapping half; the inner segments more nearly ovate, spathulate, blunt at apex and less prominently mucronate, more usually spreading, with margins wavy or incurling; corona bowl-shaped, loosely ribbed, light orange, mouth wavy, with rim entire or occasionally notched. Strongly scented. Resembles an earlier-flowered ‘Hugh Town’ of slightly better for.
