Fl. rounded, 43mm wide; perianth segments 18mm long, roundish, very broad, truncate at apex, mucronate, white, spreading, plane, smooth and of heavy substance, overlapping one-third; the inner segments narrower, less prominently mucronate, margins a little wavy; corona 6mm long, bowl-shaped, ribbed, brilliant orange, light greenish yellow towards base, mouth ribbed and lightly frilled, with rim dentate. Sweetly scented.

Origin of Name

Named because when Malcolm Wheeler saw this flower first bloom, he remembered an old saying “as neat as ninepins”.
