Fls 2–5 (generally 3) per stem, forming a double triangle, 55mm wide, facing upwards; perianth segments 22.5mm long, ovate, mucronate, white, spreading or a little reflexed, plane, with margins incurved or wavy, smooth and of heavy substance, overlapping a quarter; the inner segments narrower, more nearly spreading, shouldered at base; corona 12mm long, cup-shaped, angled, yellowish white155D, with green at base, mouth expanded, wavy, somewhat shallowly and irregularly lobed, with rim entire. Mid-season to late. Sunproof. Sweetly scented.

‘Nico’ is taller than its parent, ‘Quickstep’, with strong stems holding the flowers above the upright, dark green foliage. The flowers, with coronas more spreading than elongated, are larger and more plentiful than ‘Quickstep’, opening creamy white, lightening only slightly with age; 3-5 florets per stem is typical. The overall habit of the plant is superior. An abundant producer of stems once established, ‘Nico’ makes a strong statement in the garden when a clump is in full bloom, and looks equally impressive when exhibited on the show bench.

Origin of Name

Named after the Registrant’s beautiful pet cat, Nico.
