Fl. forming a double triangle, 93mm wide; perianth segments 36mm long, ovate, truncate, slightly mucronate, white, spreading, plane, with margins incurling, smooth and of heavy substance, overlapping one third; the inner segments narrower, scarcely mucronate; corona 12mm long, bowl-shaped, narrowly ribbed, yellow with a narrow band of orange at rim, mouth expanded, frilled and irregularly lobed, with lobes overlapping, with rim dentate. 

Named for J. Horace McFarland (1859-1948), leading proponent of the “City Beautiful Movement” in the United States.
