Fl. rounded, 115mm wide; perianth segments 47mm long, roundish, very broad, scarcely mucronate, brilliant greenish yellow, spreading, plane to a little concave, with midrib showing, of heavy substance, overlapping half or more; the inner segments narrower, more strongly inflexed, shouldered at base; corona 25mm long, bowl-shaped, angled, yellow-orange (14A), with yellow at base and a narrow band of yellow-orange at rim, mouth expanded, narrowly ribbed and frilled, with rim narrowly flanged. Strongly scented. Sunproof.
Named for the sun because it is a bright flower.
