Given on the recommendation of Committees to plants of outstanding excellence for garden decoration or use (whether for open garden or under glass). The award is only given following a period of assessment. Assessment can take place in one or more of the following ways: 1) Trials at one of the Society’s Gardens or at some other venue; 2) Visits to specialist collections; 3) Round-table discussions drawing on the collective expertise and experience of Committee members, with the opportunity to call on further specialists when necessary.

Fls 2-3 per stem; perianth segments ovate or oblong, blunt, deep golden yellow, with prominent white mucro, more or less strongly reflexed, overlapping up to a half; the inner segments less strongly reflexed; corona cylindrical, sometimes constricted near mouth, ribbed, orange, with rim irregularly crenate. Smaller than sibling ‘Tete-a-Tete’; more nearly resembles sibling ‘Quince’. With occasional secondary stems.
