Perianth segments pure white; corona a little frilled.
A description according to Cotter’s 1972-73 catalog: “A fine exhibition variety bred Ludlow x Whitehouse. Flower is large, pure white and has overlapping triangular perianth. The slightly frilled cup is of good form and proportion. A strong grower on a medium stem with a short neck.”
Named for Lake Hawea, an inland South Island lake in New Zealand. It is an important storage lake for the spring melting snow. This lake is in the large Tekapo hydro system, one of the country’s largest systems.
