Fl. rounded, 75 mm wide; perianth segments very broad in outline, squarish at apex and truncate, only very slightly mucronate, light yellow, slightly reflexed, plane, smooth and of heavy substance, overlapping half or more; the inner segments folded slightly inwards at midrib; corona split to base, the six segments half the length of the perianth segments and closely overlying them, ribbed, opening yellow, becoming light peach-pink, deeply bi-lobed, with the lobes overlapping, frilled.  Sunproof.
