Selected from stock of ‘Grand Soleil D’Or’; Fls. c. 5 per stem, 50mm wide, facing downwards; perianth and  other petaloid segments in several whorls, vivid yellow 12A; the outer whorls 20mm long,variable in outline from oblong to obovate, blunt or sometimes folded towards apex (appearing tapered or ‘hooked’), mucronate, spreading, twisted or a little incurved, with midrib showing, sometimes with creases either side of midrib, of heavy substance, overlapping half or more; the inner segments successively shorter and more strongly inflexed towards centre, crumpled or strongly folded from midrib; corona segments in several whorls, a quarter the length of and interspersed among the inner perianth segments, outer segments yellowish orange (22A), inner segments strong orange (24B), strongly wavy or crumpled.

Origin of Name

Thought to be true ‘Double Sol’ as colouring, scent and height more similar to ‘Grand Soleil d’Or’ than ‘Golden Rain’.
