In 2011, the American Daffodil Society (ADS) designated a new exhibition section for any daffodil registered between 1940 and 1969, inclusive named "Classics".

The ADS believed that such a section would interest a different segment of exhibitors and might encourage bulb growers to keep these post-war era cultivars available.

The ADS Historic daffodil period ended shortly after World War II started, when marketing and exporting of daffodils temporarily ceased.

When trade resumed, daffodils were different, improvements in form were most noticeable.

A description according to the 1970 Jefferson-Brown catalog: “‘Acclamation’ opens and stays vividly snow white, contrasting with the dark inner segments that show up more than in most other doubles. The post of the flower is bold and attractive. A winning show flower and fine garden kind of the future. Strong stem, short necks. Flowers large, rounded, long lasting and all of show quality.”

Origin of Name

Part of Richardson’s “Race Horse Series.” Named after a successful United States racehorse of the 2010’s.
