Ralph B. White Memorial Medal Award

This plant was awarded the Ralph B. White Memorial Medal as the best new daffodil cultivar exhibited to the Society during the year.

This medal is provided from a fund bequeathed by Ralph Bernard White. It is awarded to the breeder (or if deceased to the principal cultivar stockholder) of the best new daffodil cultivar exhibited at one of the Society's shows in London during the year, and must be 'new' in the sense that its name has not been registered more than 5 years previously.

It may be awarded annually, at the discretion of the Daffodil & Tulip Committee.

Innovation Medal Award

The Innovation Medal was presented by Brian & Betty Duncan of Northern Ireland to the American Daffodil Society in 2004 at its 50th Anniversary Convention in Washington DC.

This gold medal is awarded to the hybridizer (or if deceased to the principal cultivar stockholder or exhibitor) of the most innovative daffodil exhibited at the ADS National Show. The winning variety should demonstrate significant novelty, advance or break-through qualities that could be expected to influence future development of the genus for commercial or exhibition purposes.

The Medal is available for Award at the discretion and unanimous vote of the President’s selected panel of expert judges.

ADS Miniatures

The American Daffodil Society maintains a "Suggested List of Miniature-Sized Daffodils".

A miniature single floreted cultivar normally possess a flower less than 50 mm (1.97") in natural spread.

For a multi-floreted miniature daffodil the guideline measurement for the floral mass is 72mm (2.83") in natural spread.

The ADS requires show exhibitors to enter miniature daffodils only in classes for specific for miniatures.

Any named, numbered, or species daffodil which appears graceful, with all its parts proportionately small, may be exhibited in Miniature classes and is eligible for all ADS awards

Fls 1-2 per stem, 47 mm wide; perianth segments roundish, brilliant yellow, a little reflexed, slightly convex, smooth and of heavy substance, overlapping half; the inner segments narrower; corona segments spreading, strong orange, smooth, notched at apex.

Origin of Name

Named because it is a very small daffodil that has a split cup (corona).
