A description according to Michael Jefferson-Brown’s 1962 catalog: “Seltan is a sturdy plant giving a lot of long lasting flowers with large wide white perianths and crowns of pleasing pink. The trumpet crown is a little longer than ‘Passionales’s’ and is finished off with a nice flange. ‘Pink O’ Dawn’ is one of the cornerstones of the breeding of pinks in the Anitpodes. Irish Rose has proved the most important pink breeder in Britain in recent years. Many of the most exciting seedlings under number have Irish Rose as one parent. ‘Seltan’ should surely be a really important breeder as well as a garden and show quality plant for many years yet.”
